Dyslexia is characterized as difficulties with accurate and automatic word
recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These difficulties
are unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and can lead to poor
comprehension and reduced vocabulary development.
Through coursework in Basic Language Skills and intensive supervised
practicum, participants learn how to plan, deliver, and measure instruction
in phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, oral language, comprehension,
and composition for students with dyslexia and related disorders. This 10-
