About Key Center Executive Director, Dr. Melanie Royal
Dr. Melanie Royal is the Executive Director of the Key Center for Learning Differences located in Fort Worth, Texas. With over 30 years of experience in education, she leads the team bringing essential services and resources to Tarrant County for students, families, and educators in the field of learning differences.
Dr. Royal has impacted children with learning differences, specifically dyslexia, for over 30 years. Her experience includes working with students diagnosed with dyslexia in public schools, private schools, and private practice as a Certified Academic Language Therapist and State of Texas, Licensed Dyslexia Therapist. Most recently, Dr. Royal has held the position of State Dyslexia Consultant providing leadership, training, and support for teachers, principals, and central administrative staff across the state in the area of dyslexia and effective program design for students at-risk for reading, spelling, and writing difficulties. Dr. Royal holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, both from Tarleton State University.
