Key Dyslexia Therapy Training Program

The Key Dyslexia Therapy Training Program offers comprehensive teacher/practitioner and therapy level training designed to prepare educators to become Academic Language Therapists (ALT) providing instruction to students who have a language-based learning difference such as dyslexia, or a related written language disorder. Trainees will learn research based strategies to teach literacy skills including phonological awareness, the alphabetic principle, reading (decoding and fluency), reading comprehension, cursive handwriting, spelling, grammar, oral and written expression.

Key Dyslexia Therapy Training Information Sessions

Join us to learn about training to become a dyslexia therapist at one of our free VIRTUAL information sessions.

TEACHING / PRACTITIONER LEVEL 

  • Master’s degree in education or a related field (Bachelor’s degree candidates may be considered)
  • Attendance at two-week course and four follow-up seminars
  • Meet curriculum competency standards (five demonstration lessons, book reports, article reviews, case study)
  • Daily teaching of student(s) or group(s) – 4 days per wk/45 min. (Teaching/Practitioner Level requires minimum of 100 teaching hours)
  • Exit exam

THERAPY LEVEL 

  • Successful completion of Teaching/Practitioner Level
  • Attendance at two-week course and four follow-up seminars
  • Meet curriculum competency standards (five demonstration lessons, book reports, article reviews, case study)
  • Daily teaching of student(s) or group(s) – 4 days per wk/45 min. (Therapy Level requires minimum of 700 teaching hours)
  • Practicum project
  • Exit exam
